Why Do crops Need Herbicides ?
Nowadays, it is to a great degree hard to hone gainful cultivating without the utilization to protect crops from pests, illnesses and the weeds particularly for the farmers that are working on an extensive scale. The chemicals used to control weeds are known as herbicides. They are made to kill weeds by directly scorching them or by disrupting their biological functions such as respiration and photosynthesis—eventually killing them. Weeds are depicted as any plants that develop in the garden against the desire of the rancher. It must be borne as a main priority that the agriculturist needs to purchase the herbicides, which is a cost that could be a lessening of benefits.
Hand weeding has never been a very efficient method of weed control-often performed too late and not frequently enough. Uncontrolled weeds have been a major cause of low crop yields in world for a long time. Herbicide use is increasingly being adopted around the world. Many developing countries (India, China, Bangladesh) are facing shortages of workers to hand weed fields as millions of people move from rural to urban areas. In these countries, herbicides are far cheaper and more readily available than labor for hand weeding.
Types Of Herbicides :
Herbicides are chemicals used to kill weeds (unwanted plants) that tend to compete with the grown crops. Herbicides can be selective or non-selective.
These are weed killers which by their chemical composition are capable of acting bio-chemically on either broad-leaved weeds or grasses. They are used predominately in monocropping situations.
These are otherwise known as total weed killers. They are used for weed control in any weed combination in the field, they will kill any kind of vegetation.
Mode Of Action Of Herbicides :
CONTACT HERBICIDES: These are types of herbicides kill any vegetation or weeds immediately after application. They stop all biological activities. E.g paraquat, gramoxone, basta etc.
SYSTEMIC HERBICIDES: These are slow action type whose effects are not noticed until few days or week after application. Their effect is a thorough but gradual killing of most stubborn and perennial weeds. They have the ability to move around the transportation and translocation systems to achieve a total kill e.g Glyphosate.
Time Of Uses :
Pre- planting herbicides can be a foliar; selective or non-selective herbicide, applied before the crop is planted. Pre-emergence herbicides are applied in the soil before the emergence of weeds, immediately after cultivation
Post emergence herbicides are applied after the emergence of weeds and can have both contact and systemic actions, but usually selective so as not to have phytoxicity effect on cultivated crop.
Why HPM’s herbicides are useful for farmers ????
HPM has, pre emergence, contact herbicides, absorbed rapidly by the foliage (especially the shoots) than by the roots with very little translocation. they Control annual broad leaved weeds and grasses. they have residual activity and controls important weeds in direct sown, puddled or transplanted crop. HPM is one of the main agrochemical providers company in the natin. The company has a range of products that oblige farmers searching for better quality create . HPM’s has prominent herbicides that put a conclusion to weeds and stops their regrowth.
